About Danny Deraney

A graduate of San Francisco State University, Danny Deraney earned his BA in Organizational Communication and began his career as a sports intern at KPIX-CBS in San Francisco. Through his hard work, Danny landed the coveted position of field producer.   In this capacity Danny was responsible for orchestrating and conducting interviews and organizing field assignments for live broadcasts including coverage of San Francisco’s famous road race Bay to Breakers, various election coverage, San Jose Sharks Hockey games and live coverage of historic Oakland and San Francisco athletic franchises including the San Francisco 49ers, Giants and the Oakland A’s.

Danny’s field production skills, drive and tenacity soon gave way to a new position in the KPIX newsroom, that of Manager, Media Relations where he created PR strategies and managed team projects in a strict newsroom deadline driven environment.  While in this position, he continued to be heavily involved in the newsroom, working as both a news writer and assignment editor for KPIX’s Emmy Award winning newscasts during his four-year tenure.

After many years in the City by the Bay he found himself returning to his hometown of Los Angeles, California.  Armed with a varied background in communications and media, newsroom experience and media relations, Danny parlayed this expertise to a position at On The Scene Productions, an electronic public relations and production firm.

As an Account Supervisor at OTSP, he worked daily to secure media placements for various clients in the Entertainment, Publishing, Consumer and Health Care Industries. He developed extensive relationships with media personnel in the top 200 markets in television and radio, and with editorial contacts in the digital, new media and online arena.  His passion for delivering measurable results drove him to garner audiences that reached over 600 million viewers across numerous projects during his seven-year career.

With results like those, Danny quickly rose to prominence within the firm, eventually becoming Senior Manager, Media Relations where he supervised all account activity while providing an atmosphere of teamwork, enthusiasm and pride in order to maximize productivity and results.   He acted as a mentor to the Media Relations team, was charged with hiring and developing new talent, worked closely with the company’s AE’s to manage project execution and worked with high profile clients to build PR plans and implement strategic tactics designed to optimize results.

Those clients have included Hill and Knowlton, Porter Novelli International, mPRm, Cohn and Wolfe, Sony Music, Weber Shandwick, Atlantic Records, Ogilvy PR, Universal and Warner Bros. Studios all of whom came to rely on his best in the business strategies for generating media coverage for their electronic broadcast campaigns.

An avid sports enthusiast, cancer advocate and cigar aficionado, Danny’s passion for media and public relations are unrivaled.
